Wilneida Negron

Director of Research & Policy, Coworker and Co-Founder, Startups & Society Initiative

United States

“I believe that to have a society where everyone is given the opportunity to exercise freedom, agency and dignity (regardless of race, gender or ethnicity) in their social, political and economic lives, we must build bridges between the people, institutions and systems that have historically been enablers of structural racism.”

Wilneida Negrón is a political scientist-technologist at the Ford Foundation working on the intersections of technological and social change with a national and global perspective. She works on the front lines of fostering new multi-issue and cross-disciplinary approaches and solutions to our increasingly complex socio-technical world and serves as a strategic advisor, consultant and capacity-builder to emerging and established national and global civil and human rights organisations. She is an adjunct assistant professor of political science at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she teaches courses on human rights and international organisations. She has a doctorate in comparative politics, specialising in social and political implications of emerging technologies in East Asia and Latin America, a master’s in public administration, and a master’s degree in international and global affairs. She was part of the second cohort of fellows at Data & Society Research Institute and is currently an affiliate fellow there.
