Simran Singh

Executive Director, Aspen Institute’s Religion & Society Program

Dr Simran Jeet Singh is executive director for the Aspen Institute’s Religion & Society Program. He is also senior adviser for Equity and Inclusion at YSC Consulting, a Soros Equality Fellow for the Open Society Foundations, and a visiting professor at Union Theological Seminary.

Simran is the author of The Light We Give: The Power of Sikh Wisdom to Transform Your Life (Penguin/Riverhead), which debuted in July 2022. He also wrote the best-selling and award-winning children’s book (Penguin/Kokila), Fauja Singh Keeps Going: The True Story of the Oldest Person to Ever Run a Marathon.

Simran holds multiple degrees: a Ph.D., MPhil, and M.A. from Columbia University, an MTS from Harvard University, and a B.A. from Trinity University. He regularly contributes to a number of media outlets, including CNN, TIME Magazine, and The Washington Post. He is also a regular columnist for Religion News Service. 

Simran was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and he now lives with his family in New York City.
