Ife Thompson

Lawyer & Founding Director, Black Learning Achievement and Mental Health (BLAM) UK

Ife Thompson is a UK-based movement lawyer (specialising in criminal defence, family law, and human rights), community activist, and expert in Black linguistic justice. With a focus on challenging anti-Black racism, Ife has pioneered work in integrating racial trauma and linguistic justice within the legal field.

She is the founder of Black Learning Achievement and Mental Health (BLAM) UK, a non-profit dedicated to Black cultural education and mental health. During the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, she led a project which provided pro-bono legal support and legal observers to BLM activists.

As a UN Human Rights Fellow for the Decade for People of African Descent, Ife advocates for racial equity both locally and globally. She is an award-nominated writer, curator, and speaker with expertise in Black British English.
